Rehabilitation of Borjomi Central (Historic) Park
The project involves the full-scale rehabilitation of Borjomi Central (Historic) Park. As of the current stage, its budget exceeds 35 million GEL.
The park is a site of historical significance and spans an area of over 14 hectares. Its creation is associated with the German engineer Moldenhawer. In 1850, based on his design, construction began along the Borjomula River valley — in the area where mineral springs and sulfur baths were located — covering 15 hectares of land. Buildings and recreational facilities were constructed, along with summer and winter gardens and pedestrian bridges over the river. Unique tree species from various protected areas around the world were planted throughout the park.
Over its long history, the park has undergone several rehabilitation phases. Various buildings were added over time, although its overall layout has largely remained unchanged.
As part of the current rehabilitation effort, all underground utilities, park infrastructure, and zonal dendrology will be fully renewed. Restoration will be carried out on key cultural heritage monuments, including Borjomi’s first mineral water bottling plant, the Eiffel-style bridges, and the Borjomi Mineral Water Pavilion.
In different areas of the park, modern attractions will be installed, along with food and beverage facilities, open-air sports fields, tennis courts, a skatepark, and leisure zones. Additionally, a 3,300-square-meter entertainment center for children and teenagers will be built.
